Arlene brings more than 35 years of operational, consulting and technical experience to Pinnacle. Specializing in revenue cycle management and HIM operations, she has acquired a unique skillset that encompasses systems analysis and design, staff training and development, and software product development. Her expertise is extensive and includes HIM outsourcing, RAC assessments, charge description master reviews, inpatient MS-DRG, outpatient OPPS coding assessments, third party payor reviews, clinical documentation improvement and physician practice coding. 

Prior to Pinnacle, Arlene held several executive positions where she was directly responsible for facility coding, audit and consulting services, CDI services, HIM interim management and PRN projects. In these roles her oversight included regional product-line responsibility for inpatient coding, outpatient coding, charge description master reviews, SMART coding compliance and HIM operations. In addition, Arlene has comanaged the compliance services product line and served on a national SMART development team.

Arlene is a Certified ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer, Registered Health Information Administrator and member of both AHIMA and TxHIMA, serving on the Legislation Monitoring Committee. She continues to be a frequent contributor to many HIM and healthcare financial publications, serving as an editorial board member of Briefings on Coding Compliance and Briefings on APCs. She has also presented at numerous educational seminars and national conferences for AHIMA, AHIA, HCCA, CLMA and HFMA.
