With over 16 years of experience in medical coding, auditing, and education, Amanda specializes in Risk Adjustment and Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCC). In her most recent role, she led auditing initiatives for multiple Medicare projects, ensuring compliance and accuracy through blind coding and auditing processes.

Amanda holds multiple certifications, including Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC), and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). Her educational background features an Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology, where she graduated with honors, alongside numerous awards that recognize her commitment to excellence in the field.

In previous positions, Amanda gained extensive experience as an inpatient coder, rehabilitation coder, and observation coder. She performed chart auditing for internal reviews, RAC reviews, and various CMS audits. She maintained close communication with the billing department, verifying charges, forming physician queries, and collaborating with case managers on Length of Stay (LOS) and accurate Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs). Her responsibilities also included chart assembly, analysis, and follow-up on the release of information.

Additionally, Amanda has served as an educator for both providers and auditors, sharing her knowledge of coding standards and best practices. She has developed training programs and resources to enhance understanding of HCC and risk adjustment coding, enabling healthcare professionals to improve their coding accuracy and compliance. Her mentorship has been instrumental in helping both new and experienced coders navigate complex coding scenarios effectively.

Throughout her career, Amanda has also taken on consulting roles, focusing on RAD-V audits and comprehensive risk adjustment coding. As a Senior Medical Coder, she developed expertise across Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial projects, and she is proficient in using EPIC systems for efficient coding and auditing.

Amanda is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC). She has received multiple accolades for her teamwork, accuracy, and contributions to service excellence, highlighting her ability to thrive in dynamic environments.

With a strong foundation in medical terminology, anatomy, and coding systems (ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS), Amanda is passionate about educating others in the field and improving coding practices.
