David White is a partner and founding member of Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting. His professional focus has been geared towards building stronger provider relationships and identifying shared business opportunities for health care businesses. David is known as a creative thinker and problem solver with over 20 years experience in health care organization management and consulting. His areas of expertise include new business development, health services valuation and financial analysis, health care market research, medical staff partnership planning and physician practice management consulting. During the past four years, Mr. White has managed several hundred fair market value analyses. David has assisted health systems, community hospitals, rural hospitals, specialty health service providers, single and multi-specialty medical groups across the country. Dan Stech, MBA, CMPE – Principal
Dan Stech is a health care business expert with over 20 years of experience in settings ranging from the health policy arena and health services research to physician practice management, association management and technology development. His professional focus is on hospital-physician relationships, physician compensation and regulatory compliance. In addition to consulting, Dan leads Pinnacle’s Physician Fair Market Value (FMV) Program and other product initiatives. Dan is a partner in Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting and joined the firm in 2006 following an 11 year career with the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). At MGMA, he held leadership positions in government affairs, health care consulting and between 2001 and 2006, was Director of Survey Operations. As Director of Survey Operations, Dan expanded the depth of performance measures observed by MGMA and firmed up MGMA’s position as the market leader in physician data resources. Dan has authored numerous articles on practice management subjects and was coauthor of a book on the practice revenue development. He regularly speaks to industry groups having presented countless sessions for national, state and local health care organizations. Dan holds a BA in history from Benedictine College and a MBA from Marymount University. Anthony Long, MBA, FACHE, FACCA, CAAMA – Principal
Anthony Long is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American College of Cardiovascular Administrators. Prior to joining Pinnacle, Anthony gained over 20 years experience as a Director of Health Strategy with Navigant Consulting and Senior Vice-President of Paragon Health. With these companies, he lead numerous hospital-physician and practice-practice strategic alignments (mergers, acquisitions and contractual arrangements), along with several strategic service line planning efforts for large health systems and hospitals. Anthony also specializes in cost saving initiatives involving supply chain management. Working collaboratively with all stakeholders, he has generated several million dollars in savings (significant and multi-year return on investment) for his clients. Prior to consulting, Anthony served as the president of multiple heart hospitals/centers, and as a senior executive for a six-hospital health alliance in the Midwest. Anthony is a regular speaker and published contributor to national programs including the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Academy of Medical Administrators, American College of Cardiovascular Administrators, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Curtis Bernstein, CPA/ABV, CVA, ASA, CHFP, MBA – Principal
Curtis Bernstein joined Pinnacle as a Principal in 2015. Curtis has two decades of management in the provider and consulting settings. For the past decade, Curtis has focused on strategic and valuation consulting services around provider relationships in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining Pinnacle, Curtis was a managing director of transaction advisory services at Altegra Health and director of valuation services at HealthCare Appraisers where he worked with clients including law firms, hospitals, ancillary service providers, physician practices, and life sciences clients.
Curtis currently serves as the Vice Chair of Programming for the American Bar Association Health Law Transactions Interest Group and Vice Chair of the American Health Lawyers Association FMV Affinity Group. Curtis is an expert for the Healthcare Financial Management Association Forums and was named an inaugural ‘40 Under 40’ honoree by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA). Curtis also worked with NACVA in developing a semi-annual four-day healthcare valuation training program during which Curtis serves as an instructor.

Jennifer Cottrell, CPA – COO, CFO
Serving in a dual role as Chief Operating/Financial Officer, Jennifer brings over 20 years of executive leadership experience to Pinnacle. She is directly responsible for strategic operations for the Pinnacle family of companies, while leading the organization in the areas of finance strategy, human resources planning and communications, business development and positioning. In addition to organizational development and stewardship, she provides leadership in the areas of client relationships, consultative engagements and professional standards and integrity. With a passion for team building and education, Jennifer also directs staff mentoring and training programs and fuels our unique corporate culture, allowing Pinnacle to attract and develop highly talented and motivated team members.

Kelly joined Pinnacle Enterprise Risk Consulting Services as a managing director in 2016, bringing 25 years of administrative, operational and clinical experience in the health care field. With over 12 years serving in a consulting role, Kelly has leveraged her past experience in coding/billing, pharmacy, first responder and nursing studies to provide a solid foundation on which to tackle complex issues for clients. Kelly assists clients in identifying strategic solutions by targeting: project parameters to identify risk, opportunities for improved compliance with government payor requirements and operational efficiencies. She performs quality assurance and audit functions for a wide range of providers. Her diverse skills are often utilized in comprehensive assessment projects involving pharmacy billing and operations, durable medical equipment, ambulance services, physician (professional fee) and hospital outpatient charging concepts. Kristen joined Pinnacle Enterprise Risk Consulting Services as a managing director in 2016, bringing over 20 years of experience in coding, revenue cycle processes and compliance for physician and hospital reimbursement models. Kristen conducts operational assessments, attorney-client privileged investigations for billing and reimbursement anomalies applicable to her expertise, coding reviews and provider/coder education. Prior to consulting, Kristen managed the ancillary and surgical (OR) coding and billing staff for the departments of pathology and laboratory medicine, anesthesia, certified registered nurse anesthetist, diagnostic and interventional radiology services rendered within the facility and procedures performed in the OR suite for all surgical departments. Kristen is a Certified Professional Coder with the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and Certified in Healthcare Compliance with the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA). She has written articles and spoken nationally for HCCA and AHIA. Allison Carty joined Pinnacle in late 2015 as a Director of Compensation Valuation following nearly a decade of experience focused on physician-hospital arrangements. Allison focuses on physician compensation and related plan structuring and compliance. In addition to valuation work, Allison maintains an interest in health care regulatory matters pertaining to physician-hospital transactions, including requirements associated with commercial reasonableness. Prior to joining Pinnacle, Allison was a senior manager of compensation valuation at Altegra Health. She also served as a senior consultant at Pershing Yoakley & Associates where she worked with clients including law firms, hospitals, and physician practices. Before her work in the health care sector, Allison gained experience as an independent consultant in matters relating to finance, technology, marketing and economic development.

Jim Connors’ professional focus has been geared toward providing business and securities valuation services to enable clients to make better decisions and reduce their exposure to compliance issues. Jim has over 20 years experience in business valuation and financial and marketing consulting. Jim joined Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting in 2008 with focus on providing valuation opinions to support transactions for mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures in the health care industry. Areas of expertise include dialysis companies, ambulatory surgery centers, diagnostic imaging, cardiac cath labs, community, specialty and critical access hospitals, and physician practices, among others. Lucas Hutchison, MHA – Director
Lucas’ professional experiences encompass business operations, strategic and market planning, and financial analysis as well as planning for healthcare organizations. He has served in various capacities, ranging from an operating room technician to an administrative resident for senior hospital leadership. Lucas joined Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting in 2003 and is responsible for market research, medical staff planning projects, physician practice implementation and management consulting projects. He has been active in numerous physician practice start-ups and ongoing practice management. R. Kyle Kramer, FACCA, FAAMA – Director
Kyle Kramer has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry and a proven track record for building teams and delivering results that enhance patient care delivery. His expertise includes organizational strategy and transformation, physician engagement and leadership, business development, strategic partnerships, operations enhancement and systems improvement. His experience spans multiple modalities, including cardiovascular, neurosciences, orthopedics, digestive health and oncology, and key ancillary departments such as pharmacy, imaging and laboratory services.
Prior to joining Pinnacle, Kyle held executive level positions at numerous hospitals, health systems and physician groups, including Main Line Health in Philadelphia, PA, Yale-New Haven Health System in New Haven, CT, Penn State University/Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA and the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston, TX. G. Christopher Louis – Director
Christopher brings nearly 40 years of experience to Pinnacle having been in the valuation business since 1979. Given his breadth and depth of experience, he adds significant financial and real estate expertise to the business valuation team and specializes in highly complex valuation studies. Chris performs valuations of public and closely-held companies, partnerships and assets (both tangible and intangible) and his opinions have been used in numerous financial reports, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, litigation support and much more. In addition, Chris has served as an expert for the US Department of Justice working on a wide variety of cases across the United States.
Prior to joining Pinnacle, Chris was a Principal with Marshall & Stevens Incorporated where he served as practice leader for the Western Region Financial Valuation and Consulting practice, national leader for the Healthcare Services Practice, and was a senior member of the Real Estate Services practice. Prior to joining Marshall & Stevens, Chris was a senior vice president at CBIZ/Valuation Counselors, Inc. providing valuations and advisory services. Girard Senn, RN, MS, NEA-BC – Director
With more than 30 years of senior management and consulting experience, Girard adds significant depth and breadth to the Pinnacle team. As a Director, Girard will focus primarily on strategy and operations, having served on both the administrative and clinical side of healthcare where he was responsible for performance improvement of major revenue centers. Leveraging his management, accounting and clinical background, Girard is also a national expert on supply chain management and performance improvement and has developed highly-innovative, national implant pricing tools, as well as advanced techniques for demand matching.
What sets Girard apart is his depth of understanding based on his clinical and operational background having managed large surgical departments and been responsible for operational performance and patient care at various hospitals throughout his career. This hands-on experience allows Girard the insight needed to present realistic and workable solutions to even the most complex healthcare and provider challenges. As an expert in clinical benchmarking and continuous improvement models, Girard brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Pinnacle and our clients.
Prior to joining Pinnacle, Girard was the Founder and Executive Director of Clinical Benchmarking, a national consulting firm specializing in expense reductions and physician preference facility reporting by optimizing a facility’s unique physician culture and supplier mix. Prior to that, he was the Chief Executive Officer of OR Benchmarks where he developed tools and software to benchmark clinical services in hospital ORs. He also served as the Managing Principal of Premier’s Supply Chain Performance Improvement division and held numerous hospital leadership/management positions.
Christopher Fete, JD, MHA – Manager
Christopher joined Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting in 2011. As a manager, he supports Pinnacle’s consulting engagements including fair market value reviews of physician compensation, Key Opinion Leader analysis, business plan development, financial and market analysis, community needs assessments and physician practice start-up / management assistance.
Prior to joining Pinnacle, Christopher was an administrative intern for a children’s medical center in St. Louis, MO. As a team leader, he assisted in the development and organization of a patient access-line for Maternal Services between two hospitals. In past positions, Christopher served as a clerk in the states of Michigan and Missouri. He assisted attorneys in all aspects of trial preparation, memorandum and analysis of complex legal issues related to medical center operations. Christopher has researched and prepared service arrangements, employee contracts, as well as compliance issues specifically related to Stark Law, False Claims Act, Fraud and Abuse, and Anti-Kickback Statutes. Larry Gray, MBA – Manager
Larry brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience in the healthcare industry to Pinnacle. Serving in several roles, he is responsible for driving new healthcare organization opportunities, providing strategic and operational input to Pinnacle’s growing number of clients, and providing leadership in the role of Chief Executive Officer for affiliated companies AfterOurs and TeleNeph. AfterOurs Urgent Care, LLC currently operates in Colorado and New Jersey, and TeleNeph, LLC is a new telemedicine company focused on nephrology services nationwide. Larry’s experience is broad and includes President, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer positions in hospital and healthcare systems, provider organizations and health plans. From launching a start-up healthcare organization, to leading a $2 billion revenue public company, Larry has a proven track record of designing/implementing strategic plans that have consistently increased value for shareholders, partners, colleagues and clients.
Prior to joining Pinnacle, Larry was the President and Chief Executive Officer of a southern California based health plan that grew in five years from $4 million to over $300 million in revenue. As President and Chief Executive Officer, he launched a two-state health plan that thrived in smaller markets and was sold to a public company. Larry then became President and Chief Executive Officer of a $2 billion revenue public health plan; increasing the stock price by 15% in less than two years. As Chief Operating Officer, Larry managed a national network of oncology practices; implementing operating plans that achieved 30% annual growth and an 11% margin improvement. Kay Hide, FHFMA – Manager

Drew Hoffman – Manager
Drew joined Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting during the summer of 2010. As a manager, he supports Pinnacle’s healthcare physician compensation, valuation and appraisal divisions, with a focus on fair market value analysis of professional service arrangements. He additionally provides market research, financial analysis and business plan development. Prior to joining Pinnacle, Drew interned at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., a company known as one of the world’s largest insurance brokerage and risk management service firms that provides a full range of retail and wholesale property/casualty (P/C) brokerage and alternative risk transfer services, as well as employee benefit brokerage, consulting and actuarial services. During his time at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., he created a 401k portfolio performance benchmarking template, composed requests for proposal and insurance renewal materials and participated in a regional intern project. Drew holds a BS in business administration with an emphasis in finance, a minor in economics and a certificate in quantitative finance from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Bobby joined Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting in 2016 as a consultant. Bobby supports Pinnacle’s business valuation and physician compensation valuation divisions with expertise and experience in the valuation of physician practices, ASCs, and other provider entities, as well as the evaluation of the fair market value of provider compensation under co-management, clinically integrated network, and shared savings arrangements
Prior to joining Pinnacle, Bobby worked as a consultant in the health care valuation industry for over five years providing business valuations, strategic planning, and fair market value opinions for provider compensation arrangements to clients ranging from small physician practices to large national health systems and academic medical centers.

Taylor Burns – Consultant
Taylor joined Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting in November of 2015. As a Consultant, he supports Pinnacle’s business valuation division through the construction of complex financial analyses and valuation modeling, the development of market research, and the composition of narrative reports and presentations. Taylor has over five years of business valuation experience with a particular focus towards the healthcare industry. Prior to joining Pinnacle, Taylor was a senior consultant at Altegra Health, where he specialized in fair market valuation and financial reporting within the health care industry. Taylor has also served as a senior consultant at CBIZ Valuation Group and an analyst at VMG Health.

Melanie Franks, MBA – Consultant
Melanie joined Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting in December 2015. She supports Pinnacle’s physician compensation valuation division by assessing fair market value for a variety of arrangements including employment, call coverage, administrative services, consultative services as well as other complex professional services agreements for both physicians and non-physician providers. Melanie’s previous consulting experience includes developing financial models and performing operational analyses as part of Certificate of Need (CON) applications for large, multi-facility hospital systems and physician practices, performing detailed fee schedule analysis and claims review/recovery. Melanie also conducted a comprehensive materials management assessment for a multi-facility system to identify supply chain savings including data analysis, process mapping and other inventory/process improvements.
Melanie holds a BS in Statistics as well as an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Logistics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Alianna Goff – Consultant
Alianna joined Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting in 2013. She supports Pinnacle’s physician compensation valuation division through detailed modeling, market research, and report development. Alianna has evaluated the fair market value of a wide variety of on-call coverage arrangements, administrative agreements, employee contracts, clinically integrated network fees, co-management agreements, and other unique professional service agreements. Alianna is known for having a detail-oriented mindset and being a creative problem solver.
She graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder near the top of her class, with a double major in Economics and Integrative Physiology. Alianna’s past work experience includes serving as a live-in caregiver for an elderly woman with Alzheimer’s. She also interned with Morgan Stanley where she supported a senior portfolio manager and first vice president with marketing and financial research.

Clayton Northrop, JD – Consultant
Clay joined Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting in August 2015 and supports Pinnacle’s consulting engagements through fair market value reviews of physician compensation arrangements, financial modeling and analysis, market research and report development. Prior to joining Pinnacle, Clay was an attorney at Bryan Cave LLP where he performed all aspects of trial preparation and discovery. One of the most high-profile health law cases Clay worked on was a Federal Trade Commission antitrust second request involving the acquisition of one national healthcare system’s hospital by another. Clay’s health law experience began back in law school where he served as a legal intern in the general counsel’s office of a medical center in St. Louis, MO. The majority of his time was spent reviewing physician agreements for compliance risk related to potential Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute issues.

Samantha joined Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting in 2013. As a business valuation analyst, Samantha supports the business valuation division through detailed financial modeling, market research, and report development. During her education she interned with SDR Ventures, Inc, a boutique investment banking firm in Denver. She supported the analyst team in the development of pitch presentations as well as contributing to the team’s merger and acquisition advisory services. Samantha also interned with Fifth Third Asset Management where she performed market research and industry analysis in support of the growth and value equity teams in both Minneapolis and Cleveland. Samantha received her BSBA in Finance from the University of Denver and her MBA with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Denver.
Taylor Dunlap, MBA – Analyst
Taylor joined Pinnacle in 2015 as a Business Valuation Analyst. In this role his focus is detailed financial modeling, market research and comprehensive report development. Taylor completed his undergraduate at Texas Lutheran University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, specializing in Finance. During his graduate program, he completed his administrative residency in Albuquerque, NM at HealthInsight. Working with the Care Transitions division, he was able to improve patient transfer process/protocol, making them safer and more efficient. In addition to HealthInsight, Taylor worked with the New Mexico Coalition for Healthcare Value (start-up/non-profit) that brings together carriers, providers, employers and other stakeholders to improve the quality of healthcare while reducing costs for the state of New Mexico. Taylor received his graduate degree from Baylor University’s MBA program.
Monica Nunez, JD – Analyst
Monica joined Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting in 2016. She supports Pinnacle’s physician compensation valuation division through detailed modeling, market research, and report development. Monica’s expertise and experience includes evaluation of the fair market value of a variety of arrangements, including employment and independent contractor agreements, call coverage arrangements, medical directorship and administrative agreements and other professional services agreements. Prior to joining Pinnacle, Monica worked as a consultant and compensation valuation analyst with Altegra Health for over five years, providing fair market value opinions for physician compensation arrangements to clients ranging from small physician practices to large national health systems.
Monica graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Public Policy and Management and obtained her Juris Doctorate from Southwestern Law School. While in the legal field, Monica’s focus was employment law with externships at the EEOC and the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office-Labor Relations Division and employment at a law firm specializing in wage and hour cases. Monica also has a background in human resources as a compensation analyst in the mortgage banking industry.
Thomas Pynn – Analyst
Thomas joined Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting in 2016 as a Valuation Analyst. He supports Pinnacle’s consulting engagements through fair market value review of physician compensation arrangements, financial modeling and analysis, market research and report development. Thomas’ experience includes evaluation of the fair market value of a variety of arrangements including employment and independent contractor agreements, call coverage arrangements, medical directorship and administrative agreements, and other professional services agreements.
Thomas has several years of healthcare experience prior to joining Pinnacle working as an independent medical sales representative and as a financial analyst for a managed care organization. He holds a BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in Supply Chain Management and a minor in Economics from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from the University of Tulsa.
Sharon Blackwood, MT (ASCP), MBA, CHC, CHPC – Chief Compliance Officer
Sharon is a former Chief Compliance Officer and currently a national consultant. She has a clinical background and over 13 year of compliance and privacy experience with concentrations in Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA) remediation, IRO services for focus arrangements, audit, and revenue cycle. Sharon has experience with national, publicly–traded systems and non-profit, multi-facility organizations. Sharon currently serves in interim Compliance and Privacy positions, develops Compliance and Privacy Programs, performs Program assessments, provides Board, physician and workforce training, risk assessments, and lead audit functions. She has experience in due diligence, acquisitions & mergers, litigation support and working with government entities.
Shelly Chamberlain, ASA – Fixed Asset Appraiser
Shelly is an Accredited Senior Appraiser of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), specializing in healthcare valuation and medical equipment. She has performed hundreds of business personal property appraisals including furniture, fixtures, machinery, equipment, computers, and other personal property. She has been a professional consultant to attorneys, accountants, insurance companies, hospital associations, businesses, the IRS, and others. Prior to Pinnacle, Shelly was a staff appraiser and business manager for a national business valuation firm, where she became a seasoned expert on fixed asset appraisal. Her experience includes detailed market studies, comparable sales analysis, preparation of financial exhibits and appraisal reports, and extensive use of the cost and market approaches to value. Shelly has successfully completed ASA’s Principles of Valuation Courses, Machinery & Equipment, Levels I-IV; and passed the Ethics and Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) Examinations. She also received a certificate of completion for the ASA’s Multidisciplinary Advanced Education in Healthcare Valuation Program. As an accomplished appraiser and outspoken leader within her specialty, Shelly currently serves as the president of the Denver Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers.
Mike Stone – Information Technology Consultant
Michael Stone, an Information Technology Consultant with over two decades of technology and management experience, has for the past 15 years, focused his attention in the healthcare industry. During tenure, Michael served as an independent consultant and healthcare CIO, supporting ambulatory clinics, physician practices, hospitals, and an urgent care center, and, was charged with major data migrations, document storage and electronic medical records security, along with the implementation of a variety of hardware and software applications ranging from advanced firewalls, Voice over IP/Telephony, Windows & Linux server deployment to SQL database applications. In addition, Michael has served as a HIPAA Privacy & Security officer for multiple healthcare organizations, whereby Michael balanced costs, organizational goals, and compliance activities in a variety of projects, including multiple electronic medical records applications.
Currently, Michael serves as an IT Consultant with Pinnacle’s Medical Practice Advisory Services division providing a variety of solutions and improving operations for clients.
Michael has earned Microsoft’s Certified System Engineering accreditation and holds a B.S. in Business Management from Montana State University.
Emily Majcen – Office Manager
Emily joined Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting in 2010. As Office Manager, she provides financial support to the company’s management, including accounts receivable, accounts payable and invoicing. Emily also provides project and human resource support to team members. Prior to joining Pinnacle, Emily was an Administrative Coordinator for Re/Max where she assisted with contracts, advertising and sales meetings.
